お正月によく聞く英語フレーズ5選

お正月によく聞く英語フレーズを集めてみました。ぜひ使ってみて下さいね！

①初詣 「the first shrine visit of the year」

例： I went to the shrine for the first visit of the year.

*ちょっとフォーマルな言い方だと「pay the first shrine visit of the year」とも言います。「pay a visit」という表現があり、ややフォーマルな響きを持っています。

②初日の出 「the first sunrise of the year」

例： I want to see the first sunrise of the year.

*「初〇〇」というのは「the first 〇〇 of the year」で覚えるといいですね！例えば「書初め」は「the first calligraphy of the year」と言うことができます。

③おせち 「Osechi」

おせちはそのまま「Osechi」と言って、説明を加えるのがいいと思います。

例： I ate Osechi, traditional Japanese New Year’s food.

*私がオーストラリアに住んでいたころ働いていた日本食レストランでもおせちは「Osechi」という名前で売っていました。

④お年玉 「New Year’s gift money」

例： I got New Year’s gift money from my parents!

*お年玉もおせちと同じように日本特有の文化なので「Otoshidama」として説明を加えてもいいかもしれませんね。

Otoshidama is a Japanese tradition where children receive gift money during the New Year.

⑤新年会 「New Year’s party」

例： Our company holds a big New Year’s party every year.

*ちなみに「家族の新年の集まり」は「New Year’s family gathering」で表現できます。
